According to Ukrainian authorities, an estimated 70,000 Ukrainians - including both civilians and military personnel - are currently missing as a result of Russia’s illegal war against Ukraine. This panel discussion will address the ongoing crisis of missing persons, including the human rights violations associated with their disappearances and while in Russian captivity. It will also explore the prospects for their return and the potential pathways to justice for the victims and their families. The panel will feature legal experts Kateryna Buriakovska and Mykhailo Romanov from the Kharkiv Human Rights Protection Group (KHPG), one of Ukraine's oldest and most respected human rights organizations. The discussion will be moderated by Östgruppen. The event will be held in English.

The seminar is organized as part of a joint project "Restore Human Rights for Victims of Russia’s War" between Östgruppen and KHPG, funded by the Swedish Institute.
